Signs and Wonder

I never really understood why people prayed for signs and wonder. This summer I have become more aware of what the Lord was doing in the lives of others with their signs. The Benzinger family and hundreds of others prayed for months for their children to come home and they did. The Martin family was docile to the Holy Spirit and now they are married and have a baby on the way.

I was just sitting here confused...until yesterday. I had to give a speech at Matriculation yesterday and I was beyond nervous. As I was in my apartment getting ready to go speak I was fumbling around my apartment, and their was a town of butterflies in my stomach. When I went to brush my teeth I grabbed my toothbrush and almost put my deodorant on it, instead of toothpaste. THAT is how nervous I was. So I took a few minutes to myself and prayed, and I texted my pray worrier sisters and asked them to pray also.

As I was sitting on the stage I kept looking around for a familiar face to grab a smile from. Someone to ease my nerves. But I just couldn't make eye contact with any of my sisters. So I looked up, and right on the back wall was the crucifix. Right there, staring at me the ENTIRE time. My best friend was already there and I could do nothing but smile. I started to get a little more anxious when they were calling my name and I was able to see a bit of the flowers right in front of the podium and there were yellow roses right in front of me. Now those yellow roses are very symbolic for me. It is the flower of my sorority, it represents friendship, and it is the flower I have tattooed on my foot in memory of Nan.

God provided peace and calm in my heart at that time. If I wasn't aware of the way he was moving in my heart and the signs and wonders he was performing I wouldn't have felt calm. Praise God for his plan, and moving mountains in my heart.

I do have to speak again at 4pm, so prayers would be greatly appreciated!

21!?

I turn 21 in about 4 hours......woot!

I'm pretty stoked for tonight because the people who I love will be together, minus a few. But still God has totally provided for sisters to come visit for the night. An added bonus is getting to have a sleep over in my apartment with all of them after, which I never had a birthday sleepover, so that's pretty epic.

At dinner tonight I was talking with two of my sisters about how after you turn 21 there aren't many big or memorable birthdays to look forward to. When you turn 10 it's your first double digit age, then 13 your finally a teenager. 16 you get a big party, and your learners permit. 17 you get your drivers license, 18 you can vote. 19 is your last teenage years, 20 is your first twenty, 21 your legal. Then what? You die? Oh at 25 you can rent a car..woot.

As I was reflecting about what's next after 21 it hit me, HEAVEN! Duh! I mean how exciting is heaven going to be. It's like a birthday everyday because you can see the people whom you love the most daily! How beautiful is that.

So today I pray for you and the gift you have been in my life. Thanks Mom and Dad for choosing life.

Is God calling you?

Since the last week of camp I've been wearing this bracelet that says "Is God calling you?" My prayer has been revolving around that. Of course he is calling me, but am I going to pick up the phone.

I'm still praying about that. I know that I'm called to be a missionary, but where and when that all fits into God's plan is so unknowing. That's why I don't want to pick up the phone. If I do, I know that God's going to answer that question for me and I'm not quite sure if I'm ready for that answer.

Sirach 32:14
" He who would find God must accept discipline; he who seeks him obtains his request"

BAM TRUTH.

Pray for a willingness in my heart to pick up the phone!

I'm not done yet...

I was at mass this morning and during my prayer I was reflection about the ways the Lord had moved in my heart the past two months of the summer. Big things are happening, HUGE, life changing events. Yet in my heart I felt peace when I realized God was not done with me yet, heck he was just starting. JUST STARTING?! Are we kidding right now? I thought this was supposed to be the easier part of my summer, the part where I worked on SGU stuff, the part where God and I were best friends but didn't move mountains around in my heart. This is the part where God starts laughing at me, because his plan is so much greater than mine.

So what is next?
Well I will be working a few different projects at Saint Leo. I'm working with the Orientation team, the Mascot team, the Time Capsule team, and the Constitution team. Maybe one or two other things thrown in there. As I'm here this summer I will continue to actively discern where God is calling me next. This is the hard part. I pray for the courage to say yes to HIS plan, and to live out my faith to the fullest, not just when it's convenient or fun, but when its hard and humbling.

I will be praying for you.

Down the Mountain

I left Covecrest about four days ago and the Lord has really provided for me. I had a blessed weekend surrounded by family and friends and lots of food! The difference between last summer post camp and this summer post camp is my prayer life. I've learned to lean on the Lord a lot more and he has provided for an easier transition down the mountain.

This week I will be giving a witness talk at my church. I'm so excited! I get to share what the Lord is doing in my heart and how he is changing the lives on every teen, Core Member and Youth Minister. The Lord is moving and can't be stopped!

Pray for all the Benzingers as they are in their final steps of the adoption.
Pray for the new Summer Missionaries as they embark on their 5 weeks of camp.
Pray for the Lord to ruin your life.
